Internal Merger at a Major Retail Group

A merger requires a solid communication plan. Following a merger at the world’s second largest retail group, in which two business units, each based in a different country, formed a new organization, the top 800 managers from both convened for a 2-day conference.  SpotMe was brought in to help address the following goals:

  • Create an interactive environment to promote engagement among the  800 participants to foster relationship building and personal cultural education. This was achieved using the SpotMe networking tools which enabled thousands of connections among the participants removing the previous geographical boundaries. The results of the connections were displayed real time on the networking wall.
  • Build mutual understanding and align everyone with the strategy of the newly formed organization. Through the use of "speed dating style" meetings, employees and members of leadership were exposed to more direct contact and the opportunity to converse and address questions about the new organization while expanding each individual’s network.
  • Provide a forum for employees to contribute feedback as well as express concerns and opinions regarding the new organization. SpotMe audience response tools enabled questions and concerns to be captured efficiently, effectively and delivered real time to the leadership to answer on stage. The SpotMe moderated sessions helped to form a dialogue about the new strategy and not a one way communication.
The design of the meeting and integration of the SpotMe technology was a result of collaboration between the client, SpotMe and our partner agency Communication Media Partner (CMP) based in Paris.
